Purpose

DRM. It’s amazing how putting those three letters in that order can result in absolute pandemonium. Go anywhere and ask about it, and you’ll be confronted with an onslaught of opinions, arguments and absolute hearsay. It’s no wonder that so many people have the wrong idea about anything surrounding the whole issue of DRM when conjecture too often is allowed to pass for fact.

And really, that’s where we hope this site comes in. We want to be a source of factual, proven information. We want to be a trusted place for people to come to seek out real information and reporting without slant of any DRM-related issues or stories that might crop up. And we want to try to cover the topic from all of the angles…gaming, movies, music, television and anywhere else it may apply.

Our goal is not to vilify or spew forth fiery rhetoric or anything else that you can easily find on other sites and message boards. No, our objective is to give you all the facts and let you make up your own minds.

We’re also going to be covering other aspects of technical issues that affect the rights of end users. Access rights, enforcement, program restrictions; all of those (and similar concerns) will be handled as well.

Beyond that, it’s also our goal to actually talk to people in the industry and share their thoughts and their perspectives with all of you as well. That might include security professionals, developers, software publishers and yes, DRM vendors themselves. Everyone has their own opinions and perspectives on the issue, and we’d like to bring those to all of you.

In the end we hope that the information and perspective that can be provided here can form the basis for the discussion that needs to be had from all sides on the DRM issue.
